Classical/Church Organ Lessons

Classical/Church Organ Lessons

Whilst I've used the term Classical or Church organ here, it doesn't have to necessarily limit the type of music that can be played on them. Whilst these types of instruments are usually found in churches and cathedrals it doesn't mean they are restricted to a certain type of repertoire  - at least when outside those environments. All sorts of genres of music can be played on them. Maybe some you wouldn't even think of! That being said there is some great classical organ music around -  Bach maybe being the most obvious composer in most people's mind for the instrument.

There is a diverse range of instruments in size and specifications, both in real instruments in churches and other venues, to the electronic home instruments. Which can be part of the fun that there is
so much variety!
There are some significant differences to a Keyboard or Piano, notably many instruments have two (or more!) keyboards and most with a pedalboard, which is played with the feet.
As well as coordinating hands and feet you would also learn how to vary the sound through selecting different sounds (called registrations) with the use of controls called stops.

It used to be said that in order to learn the organ that it is desirable to be able to play the Piano, or similar instrument, at a Grade 5 standard. However I have happily taught students as complete beginners to
music in general.

I can happily advise on various instruments
